1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Pesa Wire mobile application and website (together, the “Service”), operated by Worldchem Digital Market Ltd. (“Pesa Wire”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding contracts to use Pesa Wire. By using the Service, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are not prohibited from using financial services under applicable law.
3. Account Registration & Verification (KYC)
To use most features you must create an account and complete identity verification (KYC), which may include a government-issued ID and a live selfie. We may limit your transaction amounts or suspend your account until verification is complete, consistent with our AML & CTF Policy. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials, PIN, and device secure, and for all activity under your account.
4. Description of Services
Pesa Wire provides:
- A digital wallet you can fund via mobile money, bank transfer, or card.
- International money transfers to supported corridors.
- Bill payments for utilities, TV, internet, airtime, and school fees.
- Foreign currency trading through partner forex offices.
- Bulk payment processing for business accounts.
We may add, modify, or discontinue features at any time. Availability of specific corridors, billers, or partner offices may vary and is not guaranteed.
5. Fees
Core transactions — transfers, bill payments, forex trades, and wallet top-ups — are free of charge. A flat fee applies to cash withdrawals made at a forex office other than the one holding your balance. Current fees and transaction limits are published on our Fees & Limits page, which may be updated from time to time.
6. Prohibited Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Engage in money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, or any other unlawful activity.
- Provide false, misleading, or another person's identity information.
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features or transaction monitoring.
- Use the Service in a jurisdiction where it is not permitted, or in violation of sanctions or export-control laws.
We may suspend, limit, or terminate accounts and report activity to regulators or law enforcement where we reasonably suspect a violation of this section.
7. Transactions & Finality
You are responsible for confirming recipient details (mobile money number, bank account, biller account/meter number) before submitting a transaction. Once a transaction is confirmed and settled, we may be unable to reverse it, particularly where funds have already been received by a third party (mobile money operator, bank, biller, or forex office). Report suspected errors or unauthorized transactions to us immediately using the contact details below.
8. Service Availability & Liability
We work to keep the Service secure and available, including through the redundancy and failover measures described in our Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Policy, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the fullest extent permitted by Ugandan law, Pesa Wire is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the Service, delays or failures of third-party payment networks (mobile money operators, banks, billers), or events beyond our reasonable control.
9. Intellectual Property
The Pesa Wire name, logo, app, and website content are owned by Worldchem Digital Market Ltd. or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, or distribute them without our written permission.
10. Suspension & Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion through the Delete Account process. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law or a regulator, or to protect the Service and other users, subject to the record-keeping obligations in our Data Retention & Destruction Policy.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and revise the “Effective Date” above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Uganda, without prejudice to any right to first raise a complaint with the applicable financial regulator.
