You can ask us to delete your Pesa Wire account and the personal data associated with it at any time. This page explains how to make the request and what happens to your data.
How to request deletion
Option 1 — Email us
Send an email from the email address registered to your Pesa Wire account to:
Email support@pesa-wire.comPlease include your full name, registered email, and registered phone number so we can verify your identity. Use the subject line Delete My Account & Data.
Option 2 — In the app
Open the Pesa Wire app, go to your Profile / Settings, and use the account-deletion option (or contact support from within the app).
Verification
Because Pesa Wire is a financial service, we will verify that the request genuinely comes from the account owner before deleting any data. We may ask you to confirm details associated with your account.
What gets deleted
Once your request is verified, we delete the personal data we hold about you, including:
- Your profile details (name, email, phone number);
- Your identity-verification (KYC) document and selfie images;
- Your saved app preferences and sign-in credentials.
Your account is then closed and can no longer be used to sign in.
What we must retain
As a regulated money service, we are legally required to keep certain transaction and KYC records for the period mandated by applicable Ugandan financial and anti-money-laundering (AML) laws — even after your account is deleted. These retained records are kept secure, access-restricted, used only for legal/compliance purposes, and are deleted once the mandated retention period ends.
Before requesting deletion, please withdraw any remaining wallet balance, as the account cannot be restored after deletion.
How long it takes
We acknowledge deletion requests within 7 days and complete eligible deletion within 30 days of verifying your identity, except for records we are legally required to retain.
